A massage therapist is someone who treats clients by using touch to manipulate the soft-tissue muscles of the body. With their touch, massage therapists relieve pain, rehabilitate injuries, reduce stress, increase relaxation, and aid in the general wellness of their clients.

Becoming a Registered Massage Therapist in Ontario requires further education, and courses are offered in two environments, Community Colleges and Private Career Colleges. Community Colleges often offer the courses over 6 semesters or three years, although there is some variation, while courses in Private Career Colleges may be as short as 18 months or as long as three years depending on the school and course configuration.

All courses must meet the competency standards for the profession established by the College of Massage Therapist of Ontario. All graduates from RMT programs must pass the registration examinations offered by the College in order to practice as a Registered Massage Therapist in Ontario.

Only individuals who are registered with the CMTO are permitted to use the title Registered Massage Therapist or Massage Therapist, and indicate that they provide massage therapy services.

Reflexology therapies are natural therapeutic methods derived from this study based on the principle that there are reflexes in the body that map to other parts, glands, and organs of the body. Through the application of pressure on these reflexes, reflexology therapy can: relieve tension, improve circulation, and support the body's efforts to function optimally. Reflexology helps to manage many common ailments such as: musculoskeletal pain; insomnia; anxiety; stress; and
hormonal and digestive issues to name a few. Unlike other therapies which manipulate bones or muscle tissues, Reflexology can provide much needed relief through working the body reflex that ails you on a part of the body that does not.


Reiki

From the age of eight, Nicole has been driven by her passions in fitness, health and overall wellness. Nicole completed her diploma in fitness and health promotion, attaining a certification as a personal trainer in 2012.

Nicole has also been involved in the natural health food industry for over 5 years by providing nutritional and supplementation recommendations. Nicole became a level two Reiki Practitioner after suffering from a major concession by looking for other ways to help heal herself naturally.

She has completed a certificate in Foot and Hand Reflexology which she uses to combat common complaints such as stress, circulation, sluggish metabolism, headache and migraine relief and relieve of pain and stress and more.

Reflexology uses gentle pressure applied to the foot in areas that correspond to organs of the body to send messages from the peripheral nervous system to the central nervous system that signal the body to decrease tension levels.

She has always been passionate about healthcare and has been working in the healthcare field for 4 years.

Monica is caring and passionate about providing the best therapeutical massage to her clients; she has gained experience from the massage clinic at Trios College treating various conditions.

She is currently working on becoming a Certified Aromatherapist under the Canadian Federation of Aromatherapists and National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy at Essentria Aromatherapy School in the next months to be able to incorporate her knowledge as a complementary service and aroma techniques for your next treatment.

Karen graduated from D’Arcy Lane in 2008 and has been a massage therapist ever since, with experience in all aspects of the massage therapy field from physiotherapy clinics to a spa to working from home, teaching and more.

Karen has a clinical focus in deep tissue massage and has training in infant massage, perinatal massage therapy, acupressure, cold light laser therapy, Thai massage, cupping, and trigger point therapy.

Since her graduation, Katie has had the opportunity to work in Multidisciplinary clinics, individual settings, as well as a Health club.

With her additional education in TMJ, Prenatal, Orthopaedic and Pain Management massage techniques, Katie is able to help with a variety of ailments and conditions.
